The Ancient Story That Inspires EUDAIMON
Over two thousand years ago in ancient China, the famed physician Bian Que visited Duke Huan of Cai. Each time, he warned the Duke that illness was beginning—first in the skin, then in the blood, and later in the organs. But the Duke felt fine, so he ignored the warnings.
When the illness finally reached his bone marrow and became untreatable, Bian Que stopped visiting. The chance for healing was lost.
Later, when asked who the best doctor in his family was, Bian Que replied:
“My eldest brother. He treats illness before it appears—so no one knows his name.
My second brother treats it in the early stages—before symptoms are felt.
I treat people only when they’re already very ill—that’s why I’m the most famous. But I'm actually the least skilled.”
